Oh the agony

No, not of the bum uterus that I seem to be in possession of. No, something far more agonising.

The Summer Wedding Season.

The showers, the pre-ceremony parties, the grand event itself. What's a girl to wear. Even more pressing, what's a curvy girl to wear? And to complicate that even further, what's a curvy girl to wear when "everyone" is anticipating what you are wearing???

No, I'm not the bride. You think I exaggerate, I can tell. I mean, shit, why the f*ck would they care what anyone but the bride is wearing, yes? This is what I think too. But, I shit you not. On the thank-you card for the shower gift, the bride wrote that she was looking forward to seeing what I would be wearing to the wedding. She's too kind you see. Because she says that I always look so good. I swear I am not tooting my own horn here. I really do grub it up on a day to day basis, but when it comes to functions, this girl tries to work with what she's got. I am curvy. Very curvy. OK, I am fat. I SAID IT.
But, I still have an hourglass figure. You know know, where your waist is smaller than your hips and bust, and your hips and bust are virtually the same. So really, I have the perfect figure, only its too big by about 6 sizes.
Oh man.

That hurt just to write that.

Anyway, this is the dress that I finally went with. It will be in "Platinum", which I think should go well with my coloring (ash blonde, blue eyes, pale). The triple sashy type thing on the hip is removable, so I may not go with that. I think that the ruching will camoflage my midsection nicely. And it comes with a wrap. That I won't use. Couldn't use a matching wrap. Sheesh. But, I it will go with my black dresses.
I think its classy, good length, safe, but still interesting.
I got it for a steal of a price, and I ordered it online. The tricky part is that the bust and the hips were perfect, but the waist might be a bit of the small side. Who needs to breath, right?
It looks like I might be not eating for the next 6 weeks or so.

Now the question is, stay classic with black shoes, accessories, etc, or pick a punchier color? My inclination is to stay with the black. My aspirations are not so much Carrie Bradshaw as Jackie O.

I can definitely see you as Jackie O! Do you read the jennsylvania blog by any chance? She is infamous for wearing pearls to every occasion. I suspect you may like her :) She is on book tour right now, so not lots of funny stuff, but when she's good, she's on fire: http://www.jennsylvania.com/jennsylvania/

btw, I was going to suggest a metallic silvery gold heal. Different then the black, but not AWish.

I say DO NOT go black - it will cut you off at the ankle and make our calves look bigger. you need a delicate colour with that dress - either gold or silver depending on what tones the "platinum" colour is. And I would go SEXY in the shoe and the clutch.

On a purely selfish level - where did you get the dress? I love it!

Yay! I am so glad someone else likes it!
The Mori Lee of Bridesmaids dresses also does a line of cocktail dresses, and this is one of them.
Even better, I got it from www.bestbridalprices.com (same place I ordered my bridal gown from) and it was one of their super sale items, so it was even cheaper than their normal prices. $67 I think.
It was practically divine intervention that I found that dress!

I love the dress!! I would not be brave enough to wear it, being quite curvy myself. I am not very outgoing when it comes to fashion. I hope you post pics after the big event. :)
